Computer Teacher - Computer teachers teach the principles of computers to students at different levels. The minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Work Environment and Job Duties Computer teachers may teach elementary, high school or university students. They teach basic to advanced computer applications. They can cover lessons from simple keyboarding to challenging computer programming. Some of them teach night classes. They may also assign computer-driven tasks in subjects like math and reading. Computer teacher responsibilities also cover the basic duties of typical teachers. They create lesson plans. They evaluate student performance and give out projects and assignments. Teachers should communicate effectively with both the students and their parents. They also take part in developing and updating the curriculum. In addition, they may facilitate research and hold supervisory or organizational responsibilities. Computer teachers may be given laboratory maintenance responsibilities. They may install, update, customize and protect computer networks. However, this may also depend on the technical skills that the teacher possesses. The computer teacher who is in charge of a lab may also play the role of the lab manager. They may hold additional duties like inventory maintenance and support staff supervision.
