PARTITION ERA PERSIAN DESIGNS HAND KNOTTED CARPET IN ISLAMABAD

The carpet, hand woven in Lahore in 1947 – 1948, was the first carpet to be woven by the father of a Kashmiri gentleman by the name of Shah Ghul after the family migrated to Pakistan at Partition. Shah Ghul had Carpet Palace in Saddar Karachi. The carpet is an interpretation of traditional Persian design & includes some ‘Tree of Life’ motifs. It is, if you like, a ‘Partition’ piece of memorabilia but is also an exquisite piece of carpet work of extremely high quality. Size, a little over 6 feet by 9 feet. Washed, and with new fringe. Carpet can be viewed in Islamabad. Views: 1114
